Happy Holidays

Over the years everyone creates traditions and memories and I'm no exception.  They may vary from year to year, but they always involve the people I love.

One thing that we try to do every year is see the Garden of Lights at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens.  If you haven't gone, I highly recommend it!  I love that they do all the seasons.   The past few times we've gone in our convertible and done it with the top down.  My favorite part is the starry skies.  You drive over a small bridge and for a moment it feels like you are among the stars.  Breath taking!

During the month of December we like to try to buy at least one toy every time we go to the store to donate to Toys For Tots.   Since we don't have any children of our own, this holds a tender spot in our hearts and we love to be able to do it.  It's better to give than to receive.

The past few years we have also gone to see A Christmas Carol at the Wells Theater.  It's a beautiful older theater and we always find something new to love about the place every time we go.  There's something about seeing this well loved story being brought to life on the stage.

Christmas Day can be spent one of two ways.  Either it's an all day marathon of Christmas movies and Chinese food.  Yes, we got that idea from A Christmas Story.  Our movies vary from the many different versions of A Christmas Carol (George C. Scott, Patrick Stewart and Alastair Sim are among my favorites), Die Hard, and A Christmas Story are just a few.  Or if we are having people over, we will normally deep fry (yes you read that right) a turkey and put on a big spread.  As I said before it varies from year to year.  We've yet to decide what we're doing this year.  We're in a new area, so a new tradition may pop up.  You never know.

Whatever you do during this holiday season, I hope it is filled with love and laughter.

Merry Christmas!
