Dance Lesson

Today we have an excerpt from "Dance Lesson" by Skip McLamb.

But first let's read his blurb.

Soon after his retirement from the Coast Guard, Chief Buddy McCain receives unexpected news and is launched on an interesting voyage to destinations way out of his comfort zone.

Wow!  Don't you want more with that?

Well here's a bit more,  check out an excerpt from his story.

Buddy McCain, an almost retired Coast Guard Chief, is informed by his daughter that he has two weeks to learn to dance before attending her wedding 3,000 miles away.  This excerpt gives you a glimpse of Buddy’s first dance lesson.
Good job Buddy, keep going.  You must practice the basic steps over and over. Make your steps a little smaller. At the end of our session tonight you’ll be doing these steps without thinking about them at all.”
All I can think of right now is that it feels weird holding hands with a man.
After dancing for a couple of minutes, I look down and catch a glint of blue.  “Marion, do you have blue polish on your nails?”
“Absolutely not Buddy.  It’s liquid aqua, a brand new color.”
That doesn’t make me feel any less weird, but I keep working on the basic steps.  Gee, the things you do for your children.
